Our motto, drawn out

Every corner. Every visit.

  1. Pass 1

    Mow at the right height.

    The whole lawn gets cut in clean passes at the height your grass needs. For most St. Augustine, UF/IFAS says 3.5 to 4 inches.

  2. Pass 2

    Trim what a mower can’t reach.

    The palm ring, the mailbox post, the AC pad and the bed lines. Miss these and a fresh cut still looks half done.

  3. Pass 3

    Edge every hard line.

    Driveway, front walk, sidewalk and curb each get a clean, straight edge, so the yard reads sharp from the street.

  4. Pass 4

    Hit every corner.

    Where the walk meets the drive, where the drive meets the sidewalk, the end of every bed. A yard like this has twelve, and we finish all of them.

  5. Pass 5

    Blow it all clean.

    Clippings come off the drive, walk and sidewalk. None of it gets blown into the street, which the county rules do not allow.

Tampa Bay summers

Tampa grass doesn’t take summer off.

The rainy season here runs from about late May to early October. St. Augustine usually needs a cut every week in the growing season, so we keep you on a schedule that keeps up.

A good lawn here follows the local rules. We keep track of them so you don’t have to.

    No nitrogen or phosphorus fertilizer

    Tampa and Hillsborough County restrict those lawn fertilizers through the summer rainy months. We plan feeding around the dates.

    Fertilizer stays back from water

    No fertilizer within 10 feet of a pond, lake or other water, and no clippings blown into the street.

    Watering under the current order

    The water shortage order limits sprinklers to one day a week, set by the last digit of your street number. We set timers to match.

    The right height for St. Augustine

    Most St. Augustine lawns should be mowed at 3.5 to 4 inches, never taking more than a third of the blade at once.
